We were using it to soak up muddy areas while we built our house. It was free chicken day. I didn't know this. When I got up to pay for the straw the clerk informed me that I had two free chickens coming with my purchase and which ones did I want. Chickens? No, I didn't need any chickens, it was too soon. We were not even going to have a house to live in for months. I left, drove around a bit and I couldn't stop thinking about them. I went back to claim my two free chickens. By the time I finished buying all the things I needed for two baby chickens I qualified for two more baby chickens! I guess there really is no such thing as a "free chicken" but I love them and this webite is all about the sheer joy of keeping backyard chickens as well as backyard birdwatching and gardening.
